In the new, post-Brexit, post-Trump world order, EU policymakers have their hands full with many mandates. A sustainable food systems chapter is being revised for the EU’s existing and future trade agreements. Sustainability concerns have underscored the correlation between climate change and the global food system, and with new food processing technologies poised to address consumer’s traceability demands, AgTech and FoodTech startups are popping up everywhere. Who will keep an eye on them? There’s also a planned proposal for an “anti-coercion tool” designed to shore up the bloc’s ability to discipline countries that don’t play by WTO rules. Time to get cracking!
