In America, the dietary supplement sector contributed $158.6 billion to the U.S. economy in 2023 [study conducted by CRN - Council for Responsible Nutrition]

This figure represents a 23% increase compared to the $121.6 billion reported in the 2016 report.

The total economic impact of the American dietary supplement industry, which includes the creation of new jobs and employment levels, total payrolls, federal and state taxes paid, and other financial contributions of the sector, has been analyzed across all 50 U.S. states. Specifically, the dietary supplement sector generated over $20 billion in tax revenue for 2023, considering federal and state income taxes, as well as sales tax collected on supplement sales to American consumers.

The total payroll paid to employees working directly for American dietary supplement manufacturing companies was over $19 billion, while the total of salaries and wages paid, including the indirect impact, reached $45 billion.
